- A firewall can block communication. A firewall needs to be configured to allow access to a camera from outside your local network. Ask your system administrator to do this for you
- Check if your IP camera doesn't conflict with other web servers on your network
- Standard routing could be a problem. Check your router settings, allow your camera from outside (WAN) to be approached
- To approach a camera from the internet, you need to configure port-forwarding in your router or activate UPnP on both the camera as well as the router. Port-forwarding only for old cameras and at own risk. UPnP also at own risk, but is not recommended
- You cannot use the normal IP address of the camera from the internet (usually starting with 192.168.xxx.xxx) but you need to use the public IP address from your network. This can be found on www.whatismyip.com
